The Training 101 SIG is for people who are or who feel new to the talent development industry. We have attendees who are not employed in the field yet, but are interested. Many of those who attend our SIG are instructional designers interested in moving into training delivery or vice versa. We meet on a monthly basis to explore one of the foundational facets that all talent development professionals need to understand. In 2016, ATD launched the Core 4 conferences to focus on the four core competencies every talent development professional must master, regardless of their role: instructional design, training delivery, learning technologies, and measurement/evaluation. In 2017, co-facilitators Melony Johnson and Wendy Gates Corbett, are modeling the focus of the SIG’s meetings on ATD’s ‘Core 4’ concept (the core 4 competencies all talent development professionals need), focusing on each competency for three months:
• Training Delivery (February – March)
• Instructional Design (April – June)
• Learning Technologies (July – September)
• Measurement and Evaluation (October – December)
Join us on the 1st Wednesday of the month at Pfeiffer University’s RTP campus, 6:00 – 7:30 PM!
