 Designing for VR

ATD Capability Model:

Professional: Training Delivery and Facilitation
Professional: Technology Application
Professional: Career & Leadership Development
Organizational: Future Readiness

Description:

Immersive learning is a powerful tool that can help your team achieve learning goals in a meaningful and hands-on way. But within the L&D field, there is a lot of misunderstanding about what exactly VR can do and how it can be implemented. This can make it challenging to get everyone at your organization, or even just your team, on board with what you need to know to make a successful immersive learning program. Discover the key drivers of a successful VR strategy and learn how to build a plan to launch effective VR learning programs in your organization.

In this session you will learn how to create a virtual reality pilot project as the stepping stone to an enterprise immersive learning hybrid strategy. You will learn the steps to design and build a virtual reality-based learning experience (LXP) for training employees as part of a companywide emphasis on safety and accident prevention. We will start with the RFP and continue through the pilot, covering milestones along the way. You’ll see examples of storyboards, how to work with SMEs and internal teams (IT, legal, HR, etc.), checkpoints, preparing the environment, the pilot, and performance changes after the LXP—all this through a case study of a recent project!
In this session, you will learn:

  • How to measure the success of VR
  • How to identify key players and successfully work with them on a VR project
  • How to make the case for VR in L&D
  • Why launching a pilot is a great way to get started
